The New Testament also describes the Christian as a "new creation" (ktisis, 2 Cor 5:17), as having a "new man" or "nature" which has replaced the old (anthrôpos--Rom. 6:6, Eph 4:22-24, Col 3:9-10), as one who is in the "spirit" and not in the "flesh" (pneuma vs. sarx--Gal 5:16-26, Rom 8:1-17, compare Col 2:9-15), and in terms of old and new "leven" (zymê--1 Cor 5:6-7). But a close look at these terms in context shows that they always convey the idea of one's spiritual orientation or moral nature, not the notion of psychological distinctiveness.
